front/space is pleased to present SYMBIOSIS, BREACHING a collection of new work by sachi nagase
referencing memory, growth, instability, and transformation. within the space, white walls and transparent
vessels define ambiguous boundaries and become both confines and comforts in question.
teetering granite blocks are unstable transitions for plaster forms still releasing moisture. live cultures
of bacteria and yeast act as diaristic records of time and place, while scents of fermented tea are
reminders of living organisms beyond what the eyes can see. like these organisms, the work is in flux
and will absorb, dry, and begin to deteriorate over time.
